is located at foot of mystical Mt. Banahaw in Sitio Lanzonesan, Brgy. Dapdap, along the Tayabas-Lucban provincial road  in Tayabas, Quezon PHILIPPINES. The place is really like a fish pond with few floating Nipa Huts in the center. Since it is a fishpond, bamboos were used as bridges where visitors passed by to reach the place of their choice.

Pahiyas Festival in Lucban, Quezon PHILIPPINES

Pahiyas  Festival is a colorful feast celebrated every 15th of May by the people of Lucban, Quezon in honor of San Isidro Labrador. It is the farmers’ thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest with a grand display of colorful rice wafers, fruits, vegetables, and handicrafts adorning every house in the town. The festival’s name comes from the Filipino terms hiyas (jewel) and pahiyas (precious offering). This feast is an ancient farmers’ harvest celebration that dates back to the 16th century .  The highlight of the festival is a procession along the streets of the image of San Isidro Labrador, to ensure the people’s bountiful harvest in the coming seasons. The procession features a pair of giant papier mâché figures of a farmer and his wife. This is followed by the image of the patron saint and his wife Sta. Maria de la Cabeza, who carries a basket with triangulo biscuits, which are given to the children during the procession. This culminates with generous sharing of food among the townspeople.

All the locals’ houses are decorated with agricultural harvest (fruits, vegetables, rice grains, rice stalks, flowers, and ferns) and colorful rice wafers, called kiping. These thin wafers made from rice dough are usually arranged into two or three layers of chandeliers called aranya. The locals use different kinds of leaves to add flavor and color to the kiping. They also produce varieties of tastes and textures by using different ingredients such as kabal, coffee, talisay (umbrella tree), cocoa, and banaba leaves. YAHOO! PHILIPPINES / wikipilipinas

Lucban, Quezon PHILIPPINES is Known for Authentic Pancit Habhab

Lucban is famous for its annual Pahiyas Festival,  which is held every 15th of May in honour of St Isidore the laborer the Farmer. When it comes to food, the Pancit Habhab has been synonymous with this province. Tourists are willing to travel to this place so they can partake of this wonderful, local specialty food.

Pancit Habhab is a local delicacy of sautéed noodles mixed with chopped pork, shrimps and vegetables. Mixed with just the right amount of onion and garlic, and you already have a complete and filling meal. What adds excitement to eating Pancit Habhab is the fact that it is eaten without using any utensils of any kind. To truly enjoy the noodles, it is placed on a rectangular banana leaf and eat it using your mouth. Hence you must be careful as not to spill some on your clothes. It is recommended that Pancit Habhab should be sprinkled with some vinegar to enhance its taste.viaBandila

Do you want to have a soul searching? Do you intend to find a place wherein you can reflect and enjoy the beauty of nature? Are you craving for a spiritual journey?

I think, Kamay ni Hesus Shrine (Hand of Jesus) is the answer to all these questions.

“KAMAY NI HESUS” literally means “Hands of Jesus”. This pilgrimage site sits right on the slopes of mystical Mount Banahaw where pilgrims consider the waters miraculous. It is located in Lucban, Quezon Province, Philippines, one of the most popular places visited by travelers or tourists especially during Holy Week

Just like the pilgrimage site in Lourdes, France, there are baths in this place where pilgrims can bathe in miraculous waters. There is also a trail going up to the main grotto while one recites their prayers on their uphill climb.

A Chapel was also constructed within the complex, right beside a souvenir shop, surrounded by many religious statues.

Balut of the PHILIPPINES,   Haven’t You Tasted It Yet?

Well, Philippine Balut is actually a fertilized three week old chicken or duck egg, with an embryo in it.

To savor the Balut, you need to tap the pointed tip of the egg to make a hole large enough to suck the broth out of the egg. Once you have managed to slurp down the amniotic fluid without throwing up, the next step is to peel the egg and expose the partially formed hatchling. Then, sprinkle some salt or vinegar on it, bite down, chew and swallow. Happy eating!!!
